I have always loved making things by hand. I thank my mother for passing down her ability to work with her hands, sewing and creating beautiful garments and craft items. My father, who is a skilled carpenter and woodworker, taught me to appreciate the integrity of antiques for their uniqueness and durability.
My passion for jewelry-making began as a hobby several years ago. I was fascinated with the romantic quality of antique buttons – they’re little pieces of art all on their own. It’shard to imagine that someone so long ago would put so much character and charm into a button. It’s such a shame to not display them, and turning them into jewelry is a perfect way to do that.
Eventually, I began using other elements to enhance my designs. Recently I discovered the addictive nature of working with beads. Beads are so colorful and have so many possibilities! All of my beaded and collage pieces are one-of-a-kind.
I reside in central Illinois with my husband; my daughter and her family live nearby. I work full-time as an administrative assistant to the president of a community college. In my “spare” time, I love to sew, embroider with ribbon, read, and travel. My favorite activity is spending time with my three perfectly adorable grandchildren. |
